Government financial help during the pandemic

Although businesses are gradually reopening across the country, there is no denying COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the health and economic well-being of Canadians.

That’s why the federal government put in place various financial measures to support Canadians and businesses during this crisis.

For example, affected companies may be eligible for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy. The C E W S provides a wage subsidy to eligible employers, so they can rehire workers previously laid off because of COVID-19. This can help businesses resume normal operations.

Another support measure is the Canada Emergency Business Account, which provides eligible companies an interest-free loan of up to $40,000. The C E B A can help businesses cover operating costs during a period when revenues have considerably declined.
